London, December 20. Chelsea FC, featuring Argentine players Enzo Fernández and Alejandro Garnacho, managed to secure a 2-2 draw away against Newcastle United. However, the match left a bitter taste, as the team risks falling far behind in the race for the top spot in the Premier League.
Newcastle, managed by English coach Eddie Howe, quickly took the lead thanks to goals from German forward Nick Woltemade in the 4th and 20th minutes of the first half. The home side was heading for a comfortable victory that would have allowed them to break into the top 10 and get closer to the European qualification spots for next season.
However, Chelsea pulled one back early in the second half through an English goal from Reece James, and the equalizer came in the 21st minute of the second half from Brazilian forward Joao Pedro. For Chelsea, Argentine forward Alejandro Garnacho started the match, while midfielder Enzo Fernández came on in the second half.
Following this draw, Chelsea remains in fourth place in the Premier League with 29 points, but is beginning to fall out of the title race, potentially ending the 17th round 10 points behind the leader. Newcastle, for its part, is currently eleventh with 22 points.
